What’s on my mind/Insights

Every day:

  • Putting thoughtful people in touch with meaningful experiences
  • Values reminder: growth, kindness/caring, and authenticity
  • May you be healthy, safe, joyful, life of meaning
I have made strides in my emotional regulation work and really being aware of my feelings and choosing how I feel.
  • Some messages to Liesl have been really helpful to write:

  • We had some family time, which was nice. We met up with my whole family for a final dinner for Zach's birthday. He and I went for a short hike, which was fun.  On Sunday I met up with my sister for coffee and pastries. Yum! I had some time to work on a personal project and listened to three wonderful podcasts. A dream! Last night I made chili, and it was pretty tasty! I also did a crossword puzzle with Zach, which was a dream come true!

  • Mine has had some ups and downs, but I'm really proud of how I've handled the challenges, and all in all, I'm living my values, so yay! Highs have definitely walks to/from school with Zach, and I've now made adding mousse to his hair to deter lice "fun." I joke that I'm giving him a temple massage! Chalk that up to a mom win! Good nights of sleep. Research and sharing with Judie. Kind of stellar, really?! I also went to the bakery to pick up my fave scones. Yum!

As a family, we have done a good job showing up in conflict. With Zach around checking his hair for lice. Is the priority getting it done quickly or having it be less uncomfortable? And handling the video games challenges with a family meeting and an agreement signed by all

Let’s not forget these:
  • 5 minutes of clean up
  • Sitting on the floor

Goals

  • More hugs
  • Weekly gratitude and reminding myself of what I’m grateful for throughout the week

These are good reminders!

  • Be less judgmental; take perspective and also try to have the hard conversation
  • When triggered, consider your situation as if it weren’t happening to you
  • Write down feelings and then come back to them at 1 month and 6 months - started my “Pain or Negativity Journal”
